APPLETON – The Appleton Youth Education Initiative brought together young minds for a dynamic coding competition on Saturday, hosting a hackathon event at Appleton North High School. The event, known as HackAppleton, challenged participants to collaborate, problem-solve, and showcase their technical skills in a fast-paced environment.
Students from across the region gathered to form teams and tackle real-world problems through software development and programming. The hackathon aimed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork among youth, providing a platform for aspiring coders to apply their classroom knowledge to practical challenges. Throughout the day, participants worked intensively on their projects, with mentors and industry professionals on hand to offer guidance and support.
The event highlighted the growing importance of STEM education and the need to equip students with digital literacy skills for the future workforce. Organizers emphasized that HackAppleton was not just about competition, but about building confidence and inspiring a lifelong passion for technology. By the end of the day, teams presented their completed projects to a panel of judges, who evaluated them based on innovation, functionality, and presentation.
