Nearly 200 high school seniors gathered Friday morning on the campus of Ashland University to mark the end of their time at the Heartland Technical Education Center. The ceremony, held under clear skies, celebrated the completion of specialized career and technical training for students from multiple local school districts.
The graduating class of 2026 completed programs ranging from health sciences and welding to information technology and culinary arts. School officials highlighted the hands-on experience students gained, noting that many have already secured job offers or plan to continue their education in their chosen fields.
During the event, several students were recognized for outstanding achievement and perfect attendance. Instructors praised the class for its resilience and dedication, especially given the challenges of balancing technical coursework with traditional high school requirements.
Principal Mark Daniels addressed the graduates, encouraging them to carry the skills and work ethic they developed at the center into their next chapters. "You leave here not just with a certificate, but with the confidence that comes from knowing you can build, heal, code, and create," he said.
Family members filled the seating area, many holding signs and cameras to capture the moment. For the graduates, the ceremony marked both an ending and a beginning, as they prepare to enter the workforce or pursue further training. The Heartland Technical Education Center will welcome its next class of students later this fall.
