A local educational cooperative has received a financial boost to improve emergency preparedness on its campus. The Lighthouse Education Cooperative was awarded a $5,000 grant specifically designated for enhancing safety measures for students and staff.
The funding was used to purchase three new Automated External Defibrillators, or AEDs. These life-saving devices are designed to be used during sudden cardiac arrest events, providing a critical intervention before emergency medical services arrive. The cooperative confirmed that the new equipment was installed across various locations on the campus during the month of April.
Officials at the cooperative stated that the addition of the AEDs fills a key gap in their existing safety infrastructure. Having these devices readily available ensures that the school community is better equipped to handle medical emergencies. The grant was secured through an application process that highlighted the cooperative's commitment to proactive safety planning. The new units are now part of the campus's broader emergency response protocols, which include regular training for staff members on how to use the devices effectively.
